Your Right to Choose VNSW
as your Home Healthcare Provider
Once a physician has prescribed the need for home health care, patients have the absolute right to choose any provider of such services that they wish. Once you have reviewed the available options, and Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester (VNSW) is your choice for home health care provider, make sure you get VNSW. Be certain that the hospital discharge planner or physician specifies VNSW and that it is not left to any other party to make the choice for you.
If you have specified VNSW and then were referred elsewhere, insist on a change and your choice being honored. If any party refuses to honor your choice, you may file a formal complaint with the New York State Department of Health by calling 1-800-628-5972.
