I have been having chest pains in between my breasts, right above my bra line. They come and go! What was is causing these pains?

I have had problems with hot flashes for two years now. My GYN put me on Ogin 1.25 daily. Now they said I have low blood sugar and have put me on Glucophage 1000 mg per day thinking it would also help with hot flashes, which it has not. She is not sure what else to do. I wake up every hour during the night with hot flashes and often during the day. When I was in her office last time I had a hot flash and she noticed that my entire body was warm and my blood pressure increased to 160/90. Then it went back down after the flash disappeared. After two years, shouldn't this be going away? She has suggesed I see an endochrinologist but hasn't explained exactly why.

What is the normal glucose count?

What is the acceptable blood sugar level for a child age 5 years old, 67 lbs? Also, if he was upset when the blood was taken, could that have raised the sugar level?

I'm a 26 yr. old woman. I've had one child and had a history of displacia. Last week, I had a severe dental infection. My dentist prescribed Amoxil and an anti-inflammatory pill. Since I've been taking the medication, I've started to get a burning sensation in my vaginal area. I have a fiancée so I've been monogamous for the past year. I have had herpes before so I am confused. I don't know if I am having an allergic reaction to the medication or if I am having a recurrence of the herpes. Please let me know, so I can stop taking the medicine if it could be that, or, if it's the other, I can get an exam.

I've been releasing white discharge daily for quite a while, but it's an everyday thing. What could that be? It's not during any intercourse.

My 12 year old daughter has sever acne. What is the best over the counter product for her to use? How long should a product be used before deciding it's not helping?

Is it okay to mix penicillin with alcohol?

It is difficult to know the cause of your pain. The type of pain, including its severity, how and where it radiates, whether it is related to exertion or exercise are questions that need to be answered. In addition, your age, medical history, i.e. heart to hypertension, etc. should be considered. I suggest that you consult with your physician.

An Endocrinologist is a physician who specializes in hormonal deficiencies or abnormalities (too much, too little or none). The glands of the body are the pituitary (in the brain), the thyroid and parathyroid (in the neck), the adrenals (above the kidneys), to cite the principal ones. From what you describe, and from the suggestion of the physician, a consultation with an Endocrinologist seems reasonable.

The blood sugar level for children is 60-115 mg/dl. You and the doctor play a pivotal role as counselor and advisor and should anticipate emotional problems in a child who has diabetes. Consult with your physician if there is a need for psychological support to address this reaction when blood is taken.

The symptoms you describe can be due to a vaginal infection, antibiotics, bacterial, fungal, herpes, etc. I suggest that you visit your gynecologist to determine the cause.

I've been releasing white discharge daily for quite a while, but it's an everyday thing. What could that be? It's not during any intercourse.

The white discharge could be due to a fungal infection. Your sexual history, obstetric history, contraceptive history, sexually transmitted disease history and social history are all pertinent. In other words, only after a medical evaluation with diagnostic laboratory tests by your physician will the cause and appropriate treatment be determined.

My 12 year old daughter has sever acne. What is the best over the counter product for her to use? How long should a product be used before deciding it's not helping?

Therapy for acne must be individualized by the physician. Initial control takes at least 4-8 weeks. Climate, cleansing, topical therapy (may include benzol peroxide, gels retinoic acid and topical antibiotics) can be effective. Depending on the type of acne, the treatment may vary. Your daughter's Dermatologist should be consulted as to what treatment is appropriate for her acne.

Is it okay to mix penicillin with alcohol?

Excessive use of alcohol under any circumstances is not healthful. Alcohol, if taken in moderation (1-2 drinks) should not be harmful. Consult with your physician to see if there is any medical history or condition that you may have which may contraindicate alcohol while on penicillin therapy.
