It’s your choice

Once your physician has prescribed the need for home healthcare, you have the absolute right to choose any provider of such services as you wish, as long as the provider is licensed to offer services in your geographic location.  VNS Westchester serves residents throughout Westchester, the Bronx, Dutchess, Putnam and Rockland counties.

Once you have reviewed the available options, and VNS Westchester is your choice as home healthcare provider, make sure that the hospital discharge planner or physician specifies VNS Westchester. Your choice of home healthcare should not be made by anyone else but you or your family.

If you have specified VNS Westchester and then were referred elsewhere, insist on a change to have your choice honored. If any party refuses to honor your choice, you may file a formal complaint with the New York State Department of Health by calling 1-800-628-5972.
