Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester Celebrates Home Care and Hospice Month

November, 23rd 2022 in Press Releases

Each November, the home care and hospice community honors the millions of nurses, home care aides, therapists, and social workers who make a difference for the patients and families they serve. These heroic caregivers are central to our healthcare system and homes nationwide. In recognition of these efforts, we call upon everyone to commemorate the power of caring, both at the home and in the local communities, by joining with Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester (VNSW) and the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) by celebrating November as National Home Care & Hospice Month.

With 10,000 Americans turning 65 every day, the need for health care will continue to rise as costs skyrocket. When reviewing options, home care and hospice is a preferred choice for most patients while offering the most significant cost savings. For example, Medicare pays nearly $2,000 per day for a typical hospital stay and $450 per day for a typical nursing home stay. Meanwhile, home care costs less than $100 a day and help many seniors remain independent at home, enrich their lives, and keep in touch with those they love.

"Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester is proud to join with the National Association for Home Care & Hospice in celebrating November as National Home Care & Hospice Month,” said Timothy P. Leddy, President and CEO of Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester. “We are thankful to have such compassionate and dedicated staff who continue to bring the best care home and make a positive difference in the lives of our patients and their families.”
